Tracey Swain "Painter of Light" is a professional photographer and darkroom technician/reprographic designer who worked in photographic print for the first part of her career, then retrained in Photolithography and went on to paint with ink on paper, instead of light on paper, for the latter part of her career. Tracey would still be in London working if it were not for an accident that forced her to give up her career, re-evaluate things and decide to move to the country for a slower pace of life. Since then she has been building up a small but productive design business as well as exhibiting her limited edition landscape photography. Since 2011 she has been involved in publishing her own visual verse books with a local writer under the name Briar Ridge Books.
Briar Ridge Books

Having heard a local poet Hilary Jane Jones’ poetry read aloud at a local bookshop event, Tracey asked if Hilary would be interested in working on her lifetime dream of a book combining photography and poetry. Despite already running her own company TnT-Photoart, Tracey joined with Hilary to create 'Briar Ridge Books' and successfully publish their 'Visual Verse Books.' So far there are three books out with the fourth waiting in the wings to be printed: the magical "The Journey Series", rekindling adults’ and children’s love of nature with adventures of mystery and menace in Part One: The Wicked Wood, Part Two: The Faerie Glen and awaiting to be released Part Three: The Crystal Lake. Alongside these there is the stand-alone evocative, dreamscape coffee table book, featuring landscapes of South Shropshire and surrounding areas, called 'Shirelands'. Each of the photographs has a poem written especially for that image as Hilary interprets each scene with her own thoughts and words. Briar Ridge books bring the landscape around us to life.
